Garden Design Costs
How much does a garden designer cost? There is no simple answer to this question.
We’re not trying to hide costs every garden is unique in terms of the size, what the client wants from their garden and therefore how much work and time it will take to design a garden. A large garden with acres of space requiring a swimming pool will take longer than designing small courtyard garden.
We charge a set fee for the design for each stage. This is staged as until the concepts are approved the next plans can’t be created.
How we split the costs for a garden
A design fee is split into chunks
1.There is an intial site visit and briefing. The intial briefing enables the designer to find out what you want in the garden from a garden office to a lavender walk.
2.Site Survey, Site analysis and Design Concept
The garden designer needs to know the requirements and the plot size and aspect to design the garden. We come up with concepts and then turn that into a final concept plan
3.Detailsed construction drawings and planting plans
A landscape contractor would not be able to build from the concept plan, so detailed construction draws and planting plans are the next steps; how high are the steps, what height are the planters, what does the water feature need, what does the pergola look like, where will lighting be, what plants are to be included, how many plants per square meter. So a series of additional drawings are required
Additional costs are project management being onsite when building, sourcing plants from nurseries etc.
I charge £60 an hour or a day rate.
