Garden Design and Artists

Garden Design and Artists

As a garden designer it is a treat to work with Artists on gardens sculptures and artworks

Creating a bespoke piece of art for a garden design, turning an idea with an artist and the client is always a delight.

We created a garden in Cheltenham and worked with Jenny Pickford to create this beautiful piece of art.

We designed and landscaped the garden a few years ago but as the garden has reached maturity the plants have grown around the artwork providing it with a living frame.

Waterperry is showing Jennys work to give you garden inspiration

If you need help with your garden design please don’t hesitat to contact us to create the garden you want and maybe create a piece of art specially for your garden.
We are based near Oxfordshire and work on gardens in Oxdordshire, Gloucestershire, Warwickshire, Nothamptonshire and occoasionally will travel further afield.

Garden in Autumn

Gardens in Autumn

Autumn always offers a flashy show of colour before we settle into a quiet winter in a garden. This is the time to note what flowers you like and place your orders for next year.

Fushias for some Autumn Colour
Fuschias that remind me of ballet dancers add a flash of colour to the garden, some with dainty little dancers from Swan Lake whereas others come from the step sisters of sleeping beauty such as Fuschia ‘Delicate White’ or Brash and Blousy such as Fuschia ‘Hardy’

Dahlias for Autumn Gardens
Dahlias come into their own at this time of year you can have the beautify pale colours such as Dahlia ‘Cafe Au Lait’ or the lovely elegant Bishop of Auckland with its beautiful single petalled flower in velvet red. If however you want to embrace the a full blast of colour before winter go mad with Dahlia Neon Splendor Dahlia Neon Splendour you’ll see a number of other plants at this site.

If you want some garden inspiration and need help we can design your whole garden or borders. Please contact us for gardens in Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Warwickshire.

Paving for Gardens

May 13, 2024 by Samantha Willis

Paving for Gardens

Paving is something that garden designers need to consider as well as plants, aspect, soil and more.

Type of Paving
There is natural stone, porcelain and concrete and others.

What colour should I choose
Have a look at the colours you already have in the garden. You want to work with the existing landscape and house. For example I used a pale grey for the garden in Henley to pick up on the flint walls already in the garden.
Grey was also used for the Pergola to create a contrast against the Cotswold stone.
For the house in Bicester I chose a warmer colour to go against the red brick

Type of Paving
A riven sandstone or limestone paving slab with mixed sizes fits well with a country style garden.
While a smooth finish is better with clean lines of a new build contemporary garden

Just a few thoughts for you on your paving options. To give you a few more paving ideas for your Garden Design have a look at the following Paving Types

Plant of the Month

April 14, 2024 by Samantha Willis

Plant of the Month for April

I always enjoy the bright colours that start to appear after winter and one of the firstthe herbaceous flows is Bleeding Heart ‘Lamprocapnos spectabilis’

This plant enjoys a shady spot in the garden. It grows to about 1m high, clump forming and adds a lovely bright pink.

There is Dicentra ‘Cupid’ which is a soft pale pink that will brighted up any slightly shaded area or the Dicentra ‘Alba’ a white unlike the bright pink

When it has finished flowering its feathery leaf adds a lovely shape to the garden border.
An ideal shady border plant.
